A report about Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a kaleidoscope of city called "The pearl of Eest" for its location at south-east coast of China. It is famous for its prosperous economics, a unique fusion of Eastern and Western Culture and the key city with a lot of modern glass-and-steel skyscrapers where surrounded by some natural beautiful small islands.

The size of Hong Kong is about 400 square miles which is made up of three parts, The Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Terriories where connects to mainland of China. Such a small area, Hong Kong has about 6.9 million population, but the land is growing from the reclamation (filling rubbish into the sea for making up more land). The new airport is one good example.

Hong Kong was a former British colony. Before the British arrived, Hong Kong was a small fishing village. In the beginning the British used the territory as a naval base during their Opium Wars with China. Since 1842 Hong Kong became British colony until 1997 China took it back. Now Hong Kong is as a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

With a long-time British influence, Hong Kong is a unique fusing Eastern and Western Culture. People in Hong Kong enjoy both Western Holidays and Chinese Traditional Festivals. Hong Kong has made the premier tourist destination in Asia for it is a "shopping paradise". Every year Hong Kong has been getting about 10 million visitors and the average each stays 1 week. Nowadays Hong Kong government has been doing a lot of achievements to attract more tourists to Hong Kong.
